Art Workshop

Art Workshops for Children at Landesmuseum, Darmstadt-Germany

Have you ever been fascinated with artists or art school students sitting in front of museum exhibits and painting or sketching? Have you wondered what techniques and skills are needed to do the same? If art interests your child, then there is a workshop from the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt that may interest you.

The workshop is called ‘Werkstatt Zeichen’ and targets children aged 11-18. Based on the age group, children are put into different batches:

Werkstatt Zeichen I is for children between 11-14 years of age and aims to introduce the participants to drawing using various techniques. Children are encouraged to choose objects from the museum and keenly observe them. Based on their perception, they learn to make their artistic interpretation and sketch them. Sometimes, a few sessions happen outside the museum too, wherein children observe a landscape or a landmark and draw it. An experienced professional conducts the workshop.

Werkstatt Zeichen II is for children between 15-18 years of age. Participants are trained on the interplay of perception and constructive thinking. This course is aimed primarily at those interested in further developing their drawing skills.
