Chilli Honey Potatoes

Weekends call for something different and something special. On a weekend evening, when you have more time to spare and crave something sweet and spicy, you can try this recipe for Chilli Honey Potatoes. This vegetarian snack is easy to make and goes perfectly with cocktails and drinks.

So, let’s start with the recipe:

Ingredients needed to make Chilli Honey Potatoes:

Ingredients for preparing the potatoes:

  • 4-5 Medium-Sized Potatoes
  • Water; for cooking the potatoes and making the slurry, etc
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ Cup Refined Flour
  • ½ Cup Rice Flour
  • Oil; for frying

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 4 Garlic Cloves; finely chopped
  • 4 Green Chillies, slit
  • 1 Large Capsicum; cut into thin, long slices
  • 4-5 tbsp Spring Onion Greens
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tsp Black pepper Sauce
  • 1 tsp Green Chilli Sauce
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • Salt; to taste
  • 1/3 Cup Water
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch

Method to make Chilli Honey Potatoes:

  • Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into medium-thick, long pieces.


  • Boil water in a saucepan. Add salt. Once the water comes to a boil, add the potatoes.


  • Boil for about 4-5 minutes. Remove and strain out the water. Let the potatoes cool.


  • In a mixing bowl, combine refined flour, rice flour and water and make a thick batter.


  • Coat the potatoes in this batter and fry them on medium-hot oil. Keep them aside. If you want to make the chilli honey potatoes extra crispy, you can fry them once again after they are cooled.


  • In a big pan, heat oil
  • Add chopped garlic. Fry till they change colour.


  • Add chillies, followed by sliced capsicum and spring onion greens. Fry on high heat.


  • Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, black pepper sauce, honey and green chilli sauce. Mix well.


  • In a small bowl, combine water and cornflour and mix well. Add this to the pan.


  • Add salt and sugar. Mix and cook for about 30 seconds.
  • Add the fried potatoes. Mix well so that the sauces coat the potatoes.


  • Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve.
