Waldspirale, Darmstadt
Located about 2.5 kilometres from Darmstadt city centre is The Waldspirale – a residential building complex designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The distinguishing feature of this building is its unique facade. Unlike other apartments, it is not uniform and symmetrical. It looks irregular and doesn’t follow a specific pattern. Hundertwasser is said to have chosen the colour combinations with earthy tones and designs to reflect the layers of soil found beneath the building.
