Schlossgrabenfest – Darmstadt, Germany
Today, I am writing about the largest music festival in Hessen, which has been taking place every year since 1999 in Darmstadt – The Schlossgrabenfest. It is an event where thousands of people come together to enjoy live music and food but, most importantly, to have a good time.
Like most other public events, the Schlossgrabenfest was cancelled for 2020 and 2021 due to the Corona Pandemic. However, after a two-year break, the festival was back in 2022 and will be celebrated this year in 2023 as well.
Every year, the music festival is celebrated for four days. This year, the dates are 25th to 28th May,2023

What is Sclossgrabenfest, and what can you expect when you go there?
Schlossgrabenfest is a music festival in the city centre of Darmstadt, Germany. The areas around the Schloss are all cordoned off and are reserved exclusively for this event. There are multiple entry points where one can show the booking code and gain entry. Tickets can be purchased either for one day/ two days/ three days, or all four days. After entering the barricaded area, one is greeted with a festive atmosphere embellished with food and live music. There is an enormous variety of food and drinks on offer, which can be purchased and eaten at tables and chairs laid out for the purpose.
These foods and drink stalls that line the streets lead up to the different stages, where live performances by various bands keep taking place one after the other. The performance schedule on each location is put up near the stage, and one can choose, based on the music band/type of music, etc., where to be.
In 2022, more than 60 bands performed on three stages, and there was a variety of music ranging from Hip-Hop, Pop/rock, and disco to slam/poetry. This year too, more than 60 bands and 14 DJs are expected to perform. If one chooses to check out the program in advance, it can be seen at :
